CGO (Chief Growth Officer)
A C-suite role that owns growth across the funnel, acquisition, conversion, and retention, by combining marketing, product, and data functions.
Explanation
CGO is distinct from a CMO, who focuses on brand and demand, and a CRO, who focuses on near-term revenue execution. Adoption accelerated markedly in 2024-2025, and secondary sources citing a Gartner report state nearly 40 percent of Fortune 500 companies now have a CGO, up from about 15 percent two years earlier. It reshapes marketing org charts, since in many companies the CMO now reports into, or is replaced by, a CGO.
Usage context / examples
