DSA (Digital Services Act)
An EU regulation setting mandatory rules for online platforms on content moderation, ad transparency, and targeted-advertising disclosure.
Explanation
DSA entered force in 2022-2023, but its ad-specific codes of conduct and marketer compliance activity concentrated through 2024-2025. Article 46 requires ad-supply-chain traceability, so marketers targeting EU users must follow these rules or face fines. A German advertising federation response to the EDPB's October 2025 public consultation discussed the DSA's advertising transparency requirements in detail.
Usage context / examples
The DSA's advertising transparency requirements were discussed in an October 2025 EDPB public consultation response from ZAW (German advertising federation).
