E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness)
E-E-A-T is Google's content quality framework, used in its Search Quality Rater Guidelines, that now also functions as a de facto AI-citation quality signal.
Explanation
Google added the second "E," for Experience, to the older E-A-T framework on December 15, 2022. A BrightEdge study cited in 2025 to 2026 coverage found that 58 percent of pages that lost traffic in 2024 lacked strong E-E-A-T elements, especially clear authorship. Google's September 11, 2025 Search Quality Rater Guidelines update refined YMYL evaluation and reinforced the framework's weight, and marketers now treat it as relevant to both classic SEO and AI Overview or LLM citation eligibility.
