Micro-Moments
Brief, intent-driven moments when a person reaches for a device to know, go, do, or buy something, coined by Google in 2015.
Explanation
Google introduced micro-moments in 2015 to describe the many short instances throughout a day when someone picks up a smartphone with a specific, immediate intent, whether that is looking up a fact, finding a nearby store, learning how to do something, or deciding what to buy. Google grouped these into "I-want-to-know," "I-want-to-go," "I-want-to-do," and "I-want-to-buy" moments. The concept shifted marketing planning away from broad demographic targeting toward being present and useful at the exact instant a consumer has a need, and it shaped mobile search, local SEO, and real-time content strategies.
Usage context / examples
Retailers optimize product pages and local listings for "near me" mobile searches specifically to capture I-want-to-go and I-want-to-buy micro-moments.
