Explanation
UCP is an open-source standard Google released in January 2026, co-developed with Shopify, Etsy, Wayfair, Target, and Walmart. It gives AI agents and merchant stores a common language so a shopper can add a product to a cart from inside Search, Gemini, YouTube, or Gmail. It is compatible with AP2 for payments and with A2A and MCP for agent communication, positioning it as Google's flagship answer to agentic shopping. Retail and performance marketers in Google-Ads-heavy markets need to know what merchant integration it requires.
Usage context / examples
Google Shopping's Universal Cart feature launched alongside UCP in January 2026, rolling out first to US merchants with Canada, Australia, and UK to follow by end of 2026.
Turkish definition
UCP, alışveriş yapanların Search, Gemini, YouTube veya Gmail içinden sepete ürün eklemesini sağlayan ortak bir standarttır.
